چکیده

In this work, a coarse-mesh method used in the solution of neutron shielding problems slab geometry is parallelized, using memory shared environment OpenMP. The transport problem modelled linearized Boltzmann equation considering energy multigroup theory and discrete ordinate formulation ( ). numerical method, named Modified Spectral Deterministic (MSD), uses neutrons intranodal general alongside an iterative process to calculate outgoing angular fluxes on nodal interfaces. Two model-problems are solved, comparing execution time different number threads. results, which achieved around 30% 50% better time, were generated programming language C++.&nbsp

A review on neutron shielding performance of nano-composite materials

Neutron sources employed in different applications in both medicine and industry. Due to the harmful effects of neutron particles on living organisms, radiation shields have played a vital role in radiation protection against neutrons. In recent decade, numerous investigations conducted on the design and fabrication of nanocomposites as more efficient shielding materials against fast and therma...

An Adaptive Physics-Based Method for the Solution of One-Dimensional Wave Motion Problems

In this paper, an adaptive physics-based method is developed for solving wave motion problems in one dimension (i.e., wave propagation in strings, rods and beams). The solution of the problem includes two main parts. In the first part, after discretization of the domain, a physics-based method is developed considering the conservation of mass and the balance of momentum. In the second part, ada...

Shielding studies on a total-body neutron activation facility

Background: Prompt gamma neutron activation analysis (PGNAA) is known as a non-invasive technique capable of measuring elemental concentration in voluminous samples in a short period of time. Also it is a valuable diagnostic tool for total body elemental measurements. 252Cf and 241Am-Be sources which are usually used in this method, generate not only neutrons, but also emit high-energy and unwa...

Parallelization of Neutron Transport Code ATES3 on BARC’s Parallel System

A Neutron Transport Code ATES3 (Anisotropic Transport Equation Solver in 3D), which was developed at BARC for the deterministic solution of 3D steady-state neutron transport problems, has been parallelized using Message Passing Parallel Programming model on BARC’s ANUPAM Parallel Supercomputer. The most time consuming step in the code ATES3, which is transport sweep, was made parallel using thr...
